Olivera Pavlović, a student at the University of Novi Sad, will not tell you that everything is easy and wonderful on the student exchange programme. However, she will enthusiastically talk about how important that experience is and how important it is to see Europe, but also the inner self, from a different perspective.
Olivera is one of the students from Serbia who spent last year on the Erasmus + exchange in Spain, part of the European Student Network, helping university students integrate into the society and community of the host country and enabling them to get acquainted with the local culture.
The Erasmus Student Network in Spain helped Olivera find an apartment and solve administrative issues because she did not speak the language well, and ESN in Serbia provides such support to all those students who come to visit our country. Unburdened by “technicalities”, young people can enjoy everything that the new region tells them – and a view of a different culture and unforgettable memories.
That is the reason why the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia supported two events – The International Erasmus Games and a visit to the Golubac Fortress. The Erasmus Games were held in Niš in 2018, when students from 42 European, Erasmus + programme implementing countries, were able to come to Serbia.
“One of the most successful events was the visit to the Golubac Fortress, which was being renovated that very year with the help of the European Union. It was a unique opportunity for our and foreign students to learn something new about our culture and tradition”, says Oleg Slatina, President at Erasmus Student Network Serbia.
